Applications

Wide Bandgap Semiconductor devices, such as Silicon Carbide MOSFETs, show notable advantages compared to conventional silicon MOSFETs and IGBTs. For example, SiC MOSFETs can operate at much higher frequency using smaller and lighter passive components, and result in lower switching losses than Si-based devices. SiC MOSFETs also exhibit lower on-state resistance and higher operating temperatures due to the higher electric field and better thermal conductivity. These properties can simplify the thermal design and reduce overall cost of the power systems.  Moreover, SiC MOSFETs showed higher ruggedness, making them ideal for harsh environment applications, such as solar power systems, Energy Storage System, EV chargers and EV inverters.
